The Society for Congolese Agricultural Professionals (SOCOAP), is a non-profit scientific society and tax exempt under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and was founded in 2017 with the following objectives:
Enhance the capacity of participants in the areas of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) regulatory policy and methodologies.
Train participants in the use of risk analysis methodology (i.e. risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication for agricultural products) needed both to support trade in DRC’ agricultural products and to mitigate biological risks
To establish linkages and cooperation with National/International reputed scientists, and potential stakeholders for developing and promoting user and eco-friendly technologies.
To secure, manage and accept funds, grants, donations, endowments etc. from Government/International bodies/other organizations and individuals to be used for training, scholarships and research grants to promote agricultural research and development in DRC.
Publish bulletins, proceedings, newsletters, brochures and other works as may be considered desirable for the advancement of the goals of the Society.
Provide suitable forum for organizing meetings, seminars, symposia and lectures of National and International scientists to promote the Society’s cause and to facilitate person to person interaction.
Make an earnest effort to educate and empower farmers for better livelihood and socio-economic security.
